I am impatiently waiting for my supplies to arrive in the mail today so I can continue with my studies (I'm at 47% is a little over a month). I need school for a better life, and Ashworth College is giving me that opportunity at a price I can actually pay. The instructors handwriting was NOT legible and I was told they do not keep copies so therefore no one knew or understood what I was talking about. I filed for bankruptcy and was told by my attorney to just keep paying any creditor's I wanted to continue with. Their curriculum in fact, is very good as well. I did a level of research, before embarking on this journey of higher education with Ashworth, that I believe most have not. They have it so that it is challenging yet rewarding and very thorough so you do not miss anything. I told him I'm not enrolling just to find out it's not right for what I want, & then have to back out & then go elsewhere, but he told me it was the school's B.S. Then they never sent the rest of the text books that were already paid for. It started out ok and eventually ended with me withdrawing. I'm working on Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice I only have 12 courses left. Like every one else, the Student Services Dept. I have gone to 4 other tranditional schools before comming to Ashworth. I had already gotten a degree before this in something else from a different college. I'm learning a lot and only issues I've had are with calling the school but that's it. if that wasn't bad enough here comes the weekly calls from the collection agency and threats of spoiling your credit report. Well, since I did so great, I wanted to go back to get my assocciates in the same field, so I enrolled. If you have already signed up and try to cancel, they will tell you that you have to pay a cancellation fee or (as in my case) kept calling me to demand that I pay $900 for the rest of the course. The registrars are pretty helpful and if you call enough, you can get answers. I chose online college and it was the best decision! My son, prior to high school, was a 3.0 average student. It always tough in the beginning. You should become friendly with a Liberian you will be amazed what a person with a PhD in Liberian Science knows about, loves French Pastry's. Most of the outdated material was the result of new Supreme Court decisions or because of updates in Homeland Security. The only improvement that the school needs is in student services. I am told to e-mail the tutors and get no response from them. Since teachers are not available, it is impossible to obtain clarification questions for when there are inconsistencies between the text and test. Some of the material like swipecards was lacking. The down fall is that it takes a very long time for transcripts to be evaluated as does the grading process (The English Comp courses are hand graded) In addition; a major issue is that students are unable to move forward into the next course until the previous course work has been graded and entered in the system. I then transfered to Kaplin University who accepted my whole Associates Degree from Ashworth. Some of the course work was so simple, I could complete the course work in about a week, when it was designed to take a month. If you are looking for people who care and you are not just another influx of cash then this is not it. I have also found that credits from Ashworth University are transferrable to many other institutions that are regionally and nationally accredited. My advice is go somewhere else.
